Cancer is one of the worlds Greatest Killers, just the very word 'Cancer' can send shivers through anyones body. Some Cancers are obviously more aggressive than others, but all are serious and all require serious treatment. Preventive measures are very important, including saying 'NO' to smoking. Exercise and eating well can do the body a whole lot of good. If you want information on the facts and figures of cancer go to 2008 Cancer Facts and Figures and read. It is estimated more than seven million people will die this year because of Cancer - this is a sad statistic that should not be a reality.
HOPE IS A THING WITH FEATHERS - EMILY DICKINSON
Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune without the words,
And never stops at all,
And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.
I've heard it in the chillest land,
And on the strangest sea;
Yet, never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me.
Writing through Cancer is an amazing site that gives a prompt each month in order to write poetry or essays in relation to one’s experience with Cancer.
'It is designed for those of you whose lives have been touched by cancer. Each week, I'll post a writing prompt designed to inspire you to write from your experience of cancer. Each prompt will be available on the site for one month'
