CANCER POEMS – WISDOM-COURAGE-STRENGTH PROVERBS

The smoothest way is full of stones.

The truly rich are those who enjoy what they have.

Confidence is half of victory.

Take the bitter with the sweet.

Each day provides its own gifts.

Make love, not war.

Time heals all wounds.

Good weight and measure, are heaven's treasure.

If you desire many things, many things will be seem but a few.

If things are not as you wish, wish them as they are.

The AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY has information and advice for everything connected to Cancer. It is well worth visiting their site and having a look around. It is full of information on ALL TYPES OF CANCER, treatments, support groups, and statistics related to Cancer.

CANCER POEMS - RUNNING NEAR THE CLIFF EDGE
I was walking by the road,
That lead me to a hill,
I climbed the hill to find a cliff,
Where I could walk alone,

The sky was blue like years before,
My mind was clear – at ease,
This Cancer that controlled my life,
Has set me body free,

I ran among the whitened clouds
That ran above the sea,
I felt the warmth of Gods love
Inside the pain in me,

The sky was blue like years before,
My mind was clear – at ease,
This Cancer that controlled my life,
Had set my body free.

THE LAKE ISLE OF INNISFREE

This is a poem that transcends hope and peace. W.B.Yeats was one of the greatest poets of all time, and his poems bring nothing but hope.

I will arise and go now, and go to Innisfree,
And a small cabin build there, of clay and wattles made:
Nine bean-rows will I have there, a hive for the honeybee,
And live alone in the bee-loud glade.

And I shall have some peace there, for peace comes dropping slow,
Dropping from the veils of the morning to where the cricket sings;
There midnight's all a glimmer, and noon a purple glow,
And evening full of the linnet's wings.

I will arise and go now, for always night and day
I hear lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore;
While I stand on the roadway, or on the pavements grey,
I hear it in the deep heart's core.

CANCER POEMS - DO NOT STAND AT MY GRAVE AND WEEP

Did you know there is massive support available for those suffering or recovering from Breast Cancer.

Breastcancer.org is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing the most reliable, complete, and up-to-date information about breast cancer.

Our mission is to help women and their loved ones make sense of the complex medical and personal information about breast cancer, so they can make the best decisions for their lives.

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am in a thousand winds that blow,
I am the softly falling snow.
I am the gentle showers of rain,
I am the fields of ripening grain.
I am in the morning hush,
I am in the graceful rush
Of beautiful birds in circling flight,
I am the starshine of the night.
I am in the flowers that bloom,
I am in a quiet room.
I am in the birds that sing,
I am in each lovely thing.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there. I do not die.

HOPE IS A THING WITH FEATHERS - CANCER WRITING AND INFORMATION

Cancer is one of the worlds Greatest Killers, just the very word 'Cancer' can send shivers through anyones body. Some Cancers are obviously more aggressive than others, but all are serious and all require serious treatment. Preventive measures are very important, including saying 'NO' to smoking. Exercise and eating well can do the body a whole lot of good. If you want information on the facts and figures of cancer go to 2008 Cancer Facts and Figures and read. It is estimated more than seven million people will die this year because of Cancer - this is a sad statistic that should not be a reality.

HOPE IS A THING WITH FEATHERS - EMILY DICKINSON
Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune without the words,
And never stops at all,

And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.

I've heard it in the chillest land,
And on the strangest sea;
Yet, never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me.

WHAT IS CANCER - SIMPLE TERMS

Little I ask; my wants are few;
I only wish a hut of stone,
(A very plain brown stone will do,)
That I may call my own;
And close at hand is such a one,
In yonder street that fronts the sun.

Plain food is quite enough for me;
Three courses are as good as ten;
If Nature can subsist on three,
Thank Heaven for three. Amen!
I always thought cold victual nice;
My choice would be vanilla-ice.

I care not much for gold or land;
Give me a mortgage here and there,
Some good bank-stock, some note of hand,
Or trifling railroad share,
I only ask that Fortune send
A little more than I shall spend.

Honors are silly toys, I know,
And titles are but empty names;
I would, perhaps, be Plenipo,
But only near St. James;
I'm very sure I should not care
To fill our Gubernator's chair.

Jewels are baubles; 't is a sin
To care for such unfruitful things;
One good-sized diamond in a pin,
Some, not so large, in rings,
A ruby, and a pearl, or so,
Will do for me; - I laugh at show.

My dame should dress in cheap attire;
(Good, heavy silks are never dear;)
I own perhaps I might desire
Some shawls of true Cashmere,
Some marrowy crapes of China silk,
Like wrinkled skins on scalded milk.

I would not have the horse I drive
So fast that folks must stop and stare;
An easy gait - two forty-five
Suits me; I do not care;
Perhaps, for just a single spurt,
Some seconds less would do no hurt.

Of pictures, I should like to own
Titians and Raphaels three or four,
I love so much their style and tone,
One Turner, and no more,
(A landscape, - foreground golden dirt,
The sunshine painted with a squirt.)

Of books but few, - some fifty score
For daily use, and bound for wear;
The rest upon an upper floor;
Some little luxury there
Of red morocco's gilded gleam
And vellum rich as country cream.

Busts, cameos, gems, such things as these,
Which others often show for pride,
I value for their power to please,
And selfish churls deride;
One Stradivarius, I confess,
Two Meerschaums, I would fain possess.

Wealth's wasteful tricks I will not learn,
Nor ape the glittering upstart fool;
Shall not carved tables serve my turn,
But all must be of buhl?
Give grasping pomp its double share,
I ask but one recumbent chair.

Thus humble let me live and die,
Nor long for Midas' golden touch;
If Heaven more generous gifts deny,
I shall not miss them much,
Too grateful for the blessing lent
Of simple tastes and mind content!

INFORMATION ON IRISH CANCER SOCIETY - PLUS POEM BY EUGENE O'NEILL

WRITING AND POETRY
This poem is a poem of Hope and Beauty. It tells us that the good days do come back, especially if we have hope. We need always keep hope close to our hearts.

FREE – EUGENE O’NEILL
Weary am I of the tumult, sick of the staring crowd,
Pining for wild sea places where the soul may think aloud.
Fled is the glamour of cities, dead as the ghost of a dream,
While I pine anew for the tint of blue on the breast of the old Gulf Stream.

I have had my dance with Folly, nor do I shirk the blame;
I have sipped the so-called Wine of Life and paid the price of shame;
But I know that I shall find surcease, the rest my spirit craves,
Where the rainbows play in the flying spray,
'Mid the keen salt kiss of the waves.

Then it's ho! for the plunging deck of a bark, the hoarse song of the crew,
With never a thought of those we left or what we are going to do;
Nor heed the old ship's burning, but break the shackles of care
And at last be free, on the open sea, with the trade wind in our hair.

DAFFODILS WITH INFORMATION ON BREAST CANCER

I love this poem, it always gives me a sense of ease.

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced, but they
Out-did the sparkling leaves in glee;
A poet could not be but gay,
In such a jocund company!
I gazed—and gazed—but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

CANCER POETRY
I was sitting beside you bed,
For days on end,
Watching you fade away,
To another place and time,
Where we will be separated,
Possibly forever,
And I will never talk to you again,
Or make cheesecake with you,
The fire is going out,
Every moment could be the last,
There is a dark sky outside,
No lights in or out,
I chat with Cancer,
As I drink a sour cup of coffee,
I dream about my childhood,
I wish I could have you back,
But you are never coming back,
And now I must move forward in love,
Because it was you who gave me life.

CANCER MAKES ME MAD - HOSPITALS MAKE ME SICK

If I see another ward.
It will make me sick.

If I see another Doctor,
It will make me sicker.

If I see another hospital dinner,
It will make me hungry.

If I feel another needle,
It will make me mad,

Cancer makes me mad,
Hospitals make me sicker.

If I don’t see home soon,
I might never see it.

I AM STRONG ENOUGH TO BE WELL ENOUGH

The morning catapults me to fear,
But I am strong,
Strong enough to be well enough,
To see enough-to heal enough,
The morning knows me better than the night,
The stars have watched as I fight the pain,
But I am strong,
Strong enough to be well enough,
To see enough-to heal enough.

THE NATURE OF CANCER - ANSWERS NEED QUESTIONS

This was not the life I expected,
In one minute it changes,
That is the nature of Cancer,
It changes your life in one second,
Making all your plans go up in smoke,
Words
I need more words,
To express the pain in me,
To arrest the pain in me,
Seattle is such a nice city,
I never went to New York,
But I have seen the lights of Broadway,
As I stare out this large mirror,
Searching for answers,
Desperately needed answers,
That no one can give me,
Except cancer itself.

Kidney Cancer information is available all over the internet. One of the best sites I have found is from the The Kidney Cancer Association with an extensive portal of information.

The Kidney Cancer Association is available to assist you in many ways, including providing written information on the disease, treatment options, and resources. You can contact us by telephone to speak with a nurse who can help you. This website has valuable information that you can read, print, or share with family and friends.

CANCER WILL NEVER WIN - NEVER GIVE UP ON RECOVERY

The time has come,
Perfectly willing to accept that I am leaving,
This Cancer, this disease, this terror,
It has consumed all I got,
It has robbed me of my dignity,
And it will soon rob me of my life,
But it will never win.

Did you know there is a foundation called THE PROSTATE CANCER FOUNDATION that funds high-impact research to find better treatments and a cure for recurrent prostate cancer. One of a number of great Cancer related websites, the Prostate Cancer Foundation was founded in 1993 to improve the treatment and prevention of Prostate Cancer. It funds programs and research facilities through the USA and is a leader in the area of funding projects related to Prostate Cancer. As it states itself 'there is much done but more to do'. Prostate Cancer Foundation is an excellent website and resource.

CANCER INFO FROM THE NATIONAL CANCER INSTITUTE

BLADDER CANCER
Cancer that forms in tissues of the bladder (the organ that stores urine). Most bladder cancers are transitional cell carcinomas (cancer that begins in cells that normally make up the inner lining of the bladder). Other types include squamous cell carcinoma (cancer that begins in thin, flat cells) and adenocarcinoma (cancer that begins in cells that make and release mucus and other fluids). The cells that form squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma develop in the inner lining of the bladder as a result of chronic irritation and inflammation.
